True Freedom

Who is the Son of God and how can you be set free by Him?

Find out in 7 steps:

1 It was very good

The God of the Bible surpasses everything and everyone. In His perfection and goodness, God created people to live in His good world, in a loving relationship with Him and with each other.

Man lived in peace and harmony with God and creation. Everything was exactly as God intended. It was very good.

2 It became bad

The first people, Adam and Eve, lived in harmony with God. God told them not to eat from the forbidden fruit, because they would surely die if they did. The serpent (the devil) caused them to doubt, and they chose to eat anyway.

In doing so, they chose their own way and disobeyed God. Today, we are still like that: we choose our own way and do things we know are bad.

The relationship with God is broken.

3 From bad to worse

“Doing bad things” is what the Bible calls sin. Sin has a destructive effect. It breaks you and others down because it increasingly becomes part of who you are. Its influence grows stronger.

Think of greed, lying, stealing, jealousy, adultery, and so on. It’s a downward spiral, from bad to worse.

4 Cut off from God

God is and remains perfect, holy, and just: the opposite of sin. Sinful humanity is “cut off from God.” This problem cannot be solved by humans themselves.

Because God is just, He judges everyone fairly according to His standard of right and wrong. In His justice, God cannot simply “look the other way” at sin and leave it unpunished.

Because humanity is disobedient to God, the fair punishment is that, after death, we end up in the place God prepared for the devil: hell.

5 The great solution: Jesus Christ

God loves you. You are no mistake! He has a purpose for your life. He loves all people infinitely and longs for them to be with Him forever. He wants to solve your great “sin problem” and restore the relationship between Him and you. That’s why He provides the solution through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus came to earth as a human and lived without sin. Out of love, He willingly died on the cross, taking upon Himself the sins of all people, including yours. Through this, forgiveness is possible for you. Jesus then rose from the dead, making it possible to receive a new life.

How? Repent, believe in Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. This means three things:

1. Have remorse for your sins and ask God for forgiveness.

2. Turn away from your sins and dedicate your life to God.

3. Trust that the death of Jesus Christ is enough to restore your relationship with God.

6 Your new life with Jesus Christ

When you repent and put your trust in Jesus, you receive a new life. The Bible calls this being “born again.” Jesus then lives in you through the Holy Spirit.

This changes everything! You are transformed from the inside out, and your relationship with God is restored. God now sees you as righteous because of what His Son has done for you. He accepts you as His child, and is now your Father.

7 Living in God’s freedom

A life in relationship with God as your Father means a life in His freedom. The very best is yet to come because one day we will be with Him in heaven! And even now, in this life, you will find freedom in God… if you surrender to Him. The choice is yours. Make the right choice!

Still unsure? Ask Jesus Christ to reveal Himself to you.

Questions? Feel free to ask…

  • It’s completely normal to have questions when you start becoming interested in faith. You might consider visiting a church, joining a Bible study, or taking part in an Alpha course. Especially if you’re new to faith or curious about who God and Jesus are, an Alpha course is highly recommended. It’s free of charge.

An Alpha evening begins with a shared meal, followed by a short presentation and a group discussion. All questions are welcome. It’s a low-threshold way to explore more about God and how faith can have a practical impact on your life. On our website, you’ll find an overview of Alpha courses, open house events, and Bible studies in the Eindhoven region.

  • The Bible is the most printed, sold, and read book in the world. Interestingly, global sales are still increasing. In Eindhoven, several churches offer a free pocket-sized New Testament in an easy-to-read translation, such as at De Bron or the Maranatha Church. You can find the times listed under the open house events on this website.

Are you new to faith? Then start with the Gospel of John. If you’d like to purchase a complete Bible, visit De Fakkel, a Christian bookstore in Eindhoven. You’re welcome to browse, enjoy a coffee, and get advice on choosing the right translation.

You can also download the Bible for free via the Bible / YouVersion app, so you’ll always have Scripture at hand. Just search for “Bible” or “YouVersion” in your app store. One tip we’d like to share: try reading the Bible prayerfully. This means you can ask God in a short prayer to help you understand what you’re reading and to give you insight. It’s a journey of discovery where you’re invited to ask for God’s guidance.

  • In the third week of September, we at Christ for Eindhoven are organizing a campaign to share more about the true freedom that can only be found in God. For four days, over 100 volunteers will take to the streets to engage in conversations about this message. We also invite people to attend one (or more) of the four evening events. You’ll be warmly welcomed with coffee, tea, and something sweet. Each evening features live music led by a band and a short talk. After the program, there’s time to connect with others over snacks and drinks. If you’d like, you can also receive personal prayer.

The evening programs run from 19:30 to 21:00, with doors opening at 19:00. Admission is free. You are very welcome! The program is as follows:
